We Should Spend More Time for the Real Experience, Not For Social Media’s Virtual, Free and Cheesy Experience

These days, I really feel something wrong on my usage of social media, or you could say, the relationship between me and my smartphone. Coming back from my workplace with exhausted feeling and lying on the bed without having supper, start watching a video clip whose thumbnail says “You Must Watch This Otherwise…”. Actually these videos are not boring in a way, but you can easily forget the content because you don’t even pay for it, and you are lying on the bed. Since YouTube might recommend you the next video like forever, YouTube videos hack your dream and you realize you fell asleep during watching and the sound of a video still go next to your pillow. Then I think, how awful, meaningless life I have lead these days.

Since it’s almost free to access any contents which seems worthy at the time, at one glance, smartphone is definitely a magic tool human has ever invented. It can be a TV, movie theater, book, newspaper, game, phone of course, radio, calendar, reminder, mail, dictionary, …you name it. So, you can fulfill your satisfaction with 5G speed. However, on another level, can’t we say these are “virtual” experience? We used to enjoy a kind of real experience. We needed to turn on the TV and watched one program with family members, we needed to rent a video from a video shop, we needed to look up a dictionary and found interesting words. However, these experiences has almost gone now. We can’t make a failure, which would be the best part of our experiences and learning.

If you are happy with today’s 5G, IoT kind of environment, that’s just great, so go for it. However, there must be people like me who feels rather uncomfortable for today’s too convenient, less experience situation. We can learn most from stupid and shameful mistakes. When you find yourself checking customer or viewer’s review, it can be said that you lose the opportunity of the real experience because you would never make a big mistake as long as you check the review. I do love review things, but you know, basically our life can be evaluated by any Amazon customer’s reviewers. So why do we always try to avoid making mistakes which is actually the only way for us to make our life really meaningful?

Then, here is my solution. I deleted almost all Social Media apps from my iPhone.

Even a Plane can fly in the screen

I felt I really need to do something for me to lead a meaningful life with real precious experiences. So, My decision is like this. I will spend more time with the real experiences which can be troublesome or a huge mistake. But then, I realize I can get much more healthy and great information for my life. I would not watch Spain’s sightseeing videos, but I would rather try to go to Spain. Instead of watching boring video clips, I would rather read books, travel with my car, and have lunch with my friends and family. That must be the best solution to have a good relation ship with social media or smartphone in this era I think. If you feel the same way, why don’t you try it together? Let’s face our life experiences more that is much much cooler and more interesting than virtual experiences.

What will happen if you stop watching YouTube this year? #1

A lot of children these days actually start to feel that they want to throw their smartphone away. There was an article like this, and I could suddenly agree with the issue behind the topic. Who wants to hold this device like a whole day as if your smartphone is fixed on your hand with a duct tape or something. In fact, nobody wants, but everybody does. Why this paradoxical phenomenon happen? Simply, because smartphone is becoming everything today.

Imagine an empty room, and you sitting alone in the room. It’s like a super minimalist house. However, if you have a smartphone with your right hand. What does it mean to you? It means you have dictionary, clock, music player, computer, sketch book, comic books, TV, radio, supermarket, department store, mailman, telephone, etc. You know? Who is the minimalist in the room actually? You are filled with a tons of things if you should have it in your pocket.

However, like Industrial revolution happened, we seem not to be able to reverse or stop this huge movement with Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon or such tech giants. This is the era when students use their tablet as their pencil or notebook. But, I feel something wrong with my using smartphone. I feel so controlled by this device. So, I want to have a better relationship with this device like decreasing times of smoking. Therefore, I’d like to introduce my challenge for it. Quitting watching YouTube.

I loved YouTube. If there was a time, I immediately watched so many recommended videos around the world. However, I’m totally fed up with it now. I quit watching TV when I was 19 and throw away my TV and now, about ten years later, I’m trying to throw YouTube away now. I don’t have any idea what kind of change will come by doing this, but hope that my condition or way of thinking become clearer than before, and keep a good relationship with my iPhone.

So many exaggeration in the YouTube that so many truth seems to be buried

3 simple tips for disconnecting with Smartphone

A smartphone is becoming anything in this era. Every desire is somehow connected with your smartphone or Wi-Fi, and you release almost your desire with it or before the blight screen of your smartphone. More and more people are now declaring how dangerous it is for us to live with the device, but more and more people seem that they’ve accepted to live with the device. Do you wear an Apple watch? If so, I would never criticize you because it’s very cool to me. But, I’m a person who has a big question about today’s living with smartphones. In short, I’m wondering I’m spending too much time with it. It’s like a feeling of having too many snacks but decent cuisine.

Today, I’d like to list up and share my tips for not being controlled by your smartphone and having a good relationship with smartphones. I actually think it’s far from the ideal though, if you could be inspired a bit and could have a great life with your smartphone, that would be great. Well, we can’t get rid of the device, but we can somehow get along with them more freely. There was a famous quote from a Japanese famous poet. And the book is now mean smartphone apparently in this time.

Throw Away Your Book, Rally in the Streets.

1. Use an Alarm Clock
Many functions, devices are now replaced with smartphones. You don’t have to buy, calendar, clock, camera, voice recorder, DVDs, recorders, maps, diary, video camera, mail tools…etc. All you need is to buy your smartphone. It really seems that you need just food and a smartphone to survive in this era. The ultimate minimalist lifestyle is like that? I don’t know. Anyway, you need to re-set the role of them, and put them out from the smartphone. In short, you should use a physical alarm instead of iPhone. Then, you would realize the iPhone or smartphone was just a phone!

2. Throw Away Your Smartphone, Rally in the Streets
Is it the law that states us to own our smartphone or cell phone? Who said that anyway. We have never been persuaded or forced to bring cell phones, but somehow the world takes them for granted. We do have the right not to own or carry a cellphone. But, I know, it’s so convenient a device that we cannot imagine the world without it. Actually, once I tried to throw it away, but I couldn’t live without it, for the life without it was such a boring and stressful life. Then, I admit the role of it. It’s ok to have it. But, maybe you too, we sometimes use it so so much time, spending watching videos, irritating comments, but “no actions”. Then I feel like we are controlled by the smartphone. There are so many clever algorithms that never let us away from the device or the site. We shouldn’t overlook the fact.

Watching YouTube is such a wonderful way of relaxing. You can spend your whole Sunday watching YouTube videos recommended one after another. But, wait a sec. Can you say that you lived the day? If you can watch the whole video in heaven, would you watch it? To watch YouTube, all you need is just watch. you don’t even have to move. It’s the least tiring way of doing something next to breathing. But, is it the right thing? Let’s go out without your phones. See the world, and walk the actual world. Meet the real people, not via Zoom or Skype, but your neighborhood, dogs, supermarket staff. Then, you can finally feel, you lived the day.

3. Buy a classy iPhone case
If your iPhone is really easy to access, that’s great. Then that would mean somehow the smartphone is the dirtiest stuff you have because you touch it anytime. Moreover, you can carry it all the time. So, how about putting your smartphone into a gorgeous smartphone case or cover. You would change your attitude toward the smartphone because it became a kind of ROLEX. You want to take care of it, and you could use less time with it because you don’t want to hurt the case. In my opinion, the wallet case is better because the screen is closed when you don’t use it. Only one simple action to open the cover can be the obstacle to overuse.

I felt like I could see and know the whole world with the phone, but actually, it isn’t. Without traveling, you would never see the truth. We deserve to see this beautiful world. We have way better cameras than any up-to-date iPhone camera. We can see the world instead of using an iPhone camera. That’s the first device we should bring back from it.

p.s. But Smartphone is good anyway if we could use it correctly!
